How to use ADB with rk3066 devices (e.g. Minix Neo G4 X5)

by on Nov.06, 2012, under Linux

Devices like the MINIX Neo G4 and Neo X5 are not recognized by the Android Debugging Bridge (adb) which comes with the official Android SDK. Nonetheless if you want to establish an connection through adb do the followong:

  1. Download this version of SuperOneClick
  2. Extract and go into the folder “ADB”. There are modded versions of the adb:
    adb.exe – for Windows
    adblinux – for Linux
    adbmac – for Mac
  3. Connect your device via USB (make sure that you have the “usb debugging” option enabled)
  4. Run adb via terminal or cmd …

The listed versions of adb will detect your device and are able to establish a connection via adb. You can start debugging with “adb logcat” and run other commands.

If it’s still not working install Moborobo and let it find the suitable driver for your rk3066 device.

I tested this tutorial with Minix Neo G4 and Minix Neo X5… Please comment below if this has worked with your device!

Moborobo works fine to enable debuggering on my Pipo M3.
    I didn’t try the SuperOneClick adb.exe…

Using adb in SuperOneClick does not work for my RK3066. Even I edit the file Drivers\android_winusb.inf to add the VID and PID, it does the same like SDK, adb devices does not list my tab. Maybe their adb has changed (v1.0.31).

    Finally I found:
    1. Install driver by using Moborobo or get VID and PID from device manager and add into any or standard adb usb driver android_winusb.inf you found.
    2. Use adb in ROOT_icood70pro that contain ROOT.bat to root the device, but I grab the adb and this is the only adb that “adb devices” found my device. See download d10dc on the first link to get the adb (v1.0.26).

  • BTW, Why are you calling me Dimitri?

Linux version of adb (1.0.26) still doesn’t work with Neo X5
